Reunions – 2010

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY HOLIDAYS
TO BIG ORANGE TRACK ALUMS

I hope all of you have a healthy and prosperous New Year and you are planning to attend our REUNION at the SEC Track Championships in Knoxville, May 2010.

We are working to finalize plans for the Reunion and should be able to mail you an agenda in a few weeks—in plenty of time to make your reservations—but in the meantime, here is a brief outline of the activities:

SEC Meet starts Thursday night, May 13, but all finals are Friday, Saturday & Sunday, May 14-16, in the late afternoon and evening.

We have reserved rooms Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights at $79/each and a Hospitality Suite at the Holiday Inn, Papermill Road, 865-297-1154.

We have reserved 50 tickets Friday and Saturday and 25 Sunday in a special section near the finish line at Tom Black Track.

Friday night dinner after the meet at Calhouns on the River.

Saturday luncheon in Lauricella Center/Neyland Stadium….field level of old Section X…before the track meet.

Sunday lunch TBD before the finals….maybe at the track.

Morning golf for the guys and a river cruise for the gals…TBD.

Hospitality Suite open every night late for “Tall Tales”.

More details and reservation forms will be emailed in a few weeks (be sure I have your email address).

I also want to thank those of you who attended my induction into the U.S. Track Coaches Hall of Fame here in Orlando last week. It was a great event. Thanks also for the many congratulatory messages I’ve received.

GO VOLS—–COACH CHUCK ROHE

The Chuck Rohe Track Era

In 1962 the University of Tennessee hired a young track coach, Chuck Rohe. The next nine years, along with the Stan Huntsman era to follow, began the most successful era of SEC track & field and cross-country dominance in the school’s history.
