Comments:  Determination to achieve the goal and the willingness to complete all assignments to the best of my ability were probably the two most important lessons learned from Coach Rohe. They served me well during my military service. Learning to organize responsibilities in the track room and at the meets was certainly a benefit to me as I assumed responsibility as a Company Commander only three months out of Officer Candidate School. When I assumed my position at Fort Polk, we were last among all training posts in meeting our responsibility to process security clearances in a timely manner. We went from 13th place to 1st place in about six weeks and held that position for the remaining eight months of my service. Coach was a mentor that showed us all how to do more than we thought possible. He would have been proud to see an excellent team of young enlisted personnel buy into a goal of being the best and achieve and maintain their position of first place.
