Comments from Rohe Track Era Memorials Page David Scire of Bedford ,Texas died March 23, 2003 at the age of 54. He graduated from Hattiesburg, MS High School in 1966. He was a track star and ran the mile in one of the fastest times ever recorded in the state of Mississippi – 4:15 on the old cinder track at San Antonio Field. David attended the University of Tennessee on a track and XC scholarship and continued to win numerous championships including the SEC mile in 1969 in a time of 4:04.9. David served in the US Air Force for eleven years from March of 1972 through August of 1983.
